Women's Jiu-Jitsu

Women's Jiu-Jitsu classes at Modern Martial Arts and Fitness allow women students to train Jiu-Jitsu exclusively alongside other women in a safe and supportive environment.

The purpose of the Women's Jiu-Jitsu class is to introduce beginner women students to Jiu-Jitsu training, as well as to provide a weekly session for women students to train in a community of women. While we encourage our women members to train in all of our classes, we understand that people have different life experiences and levels of comfort with physical contact, so we provide the Women's Jiu-Jitsu class to accommodate beginning students and allow them to become more familiar with Jiu-Jitsu before joining mixed-gender group classes.

Consistent with our mixed-gender classes, Women's Jiu-Jitsu classes will typically feature a brief aerobic warm-up where you will prepare your body for exercise while simultaneously becoming familiarized with many of the essential movements performed in Jiu-Jitsu. This warm-up will be followed by a demonstration of several techniques, which will then be practiced by all of the class participants. Finally, the last portion of the class will allow for the testing of techniques in live sparring, performed at a safe and controlled pace. Please note that live sparring is never required, and students may always choose to use this time to continue practicing techniques with a partner, if they prefer.
